Did you get my email about my titlebar button idea? I sent through the contact form 4-5 days ago.

Hrmmm… not that i can remember? I changed the contact form a few days back because a lot of people were having issues with it.

tray icon is so ugly, and it is incompatible with monochrome icon set

    • http://mpt.net.nz/ mpt

Currently it’s not possible for non-default applications to have monochrome icons that fit both Ambiance and Radiance. So, I don’t blame them for using a colorful icon.

Looks nice, but I prefer Deluge, and I think it looks a bit nicer as well.

  • blue elefant

Is there anything speaking against transmission? Awsome monochrome icon, fast downloads.

Same question. I like transmission, it works as well as utorrent for me. Sure it isn’t filled with fancy options but I only use it to…download torrents !

      • Vole

OK, off the top of my head, here’s why I prefer other clients to Transmission…

Transmission lacks RSS support (don’t know if Flush has this either).

Transmission has a separate properties window for each torrent (rather than having an options panel built into the client body). This is either good or bad depending on your point of view.

Transmission lacks colour coding of torrent states. At a glance downloading torrents look the same as seeding torrents.

That said, I do find Transmission very stable.

I don’t like transmission because of the UI. It becomes almost impossible to use when managing 200+ torrents at a time.

I don’t like Transmission because it floods the network with communication packets. I prefer rtorrent as it is rock solid and the fastest out there.

And it is perfectly acceptable on all private trackers that I can tell. Can’t say the same about this or Deluge.

I was using qBittorrent for ages and then switched to Transmission recently, and the download speeds are slow compared to qBittorrent.

      I’m trying out Deluge now.

You’ll find that deluge is more sluggish and resource hungry… Seems qBittorrent is currently the fastest, light torrent client for linux

I need SOCKS5 ssh proxying of my torrent data, which is only doable in Deluge as far as I can see

  • Anonymous

    Transmission, I need no more.

  • CokiDVD

    I prefer qbittorrent

  • Rasputin’s Cake

Interesting, I think I’ll stick with rtorrent though.

  • Memo

    Similar to uTorrent?
    Try qBittorrent:

  • Mohan

Pretty cool, but I like Deluge, and Transmission. I should try this out and see how it works.

I would stick to qBitorrent, it’s integrated torrent search facility is just awesome!!

Am I the only one using ktorrent? it has built-in search so that I don’t have to hunt torrent sites and import etc. not light enough though

    • 1916home

I too use ktorrent. I love the integration of Transmission, but every other torrent I try to download gets errors like permission denied, etc. Ktorrent is just as fast and all torrent links work fine with it. I’ll give this one a try too.

      • http://twitter.com/thadeusb Thadeus Burgess

I would use KTorrent, but I don’t want all of the KDE libs.

  • TheLouis

Does it have all the fancy RSS features (including smart episode filter) that uTorrent sports?

  • http://www.tuxbelito.com.ar/ Sr. Luzbel

Transmission is all of I need.

  • pt

wow where did this come from , out of nowhere looks promising,

I love the feature how deluge is able group all the torrents based on their track, and use the correct tracker icons

Deluges interface takes long to load up

  • vortex98

Flush is the best torrent client I’ve tried on gnome, faster and lighter than all other.

  • KTORRENT

There is an awesome collection of torrent programs that run on linux and on ubuntu.
Ktorrent (this kde program that runs also perfectly on gnome) is the best for me!
I can handle there more than 100 torrents at the same time and it has an excellent interface and a very useful search torrent option!

The version in the PPA is outdated. It’s already 0.9.4 and it’s moving forward quite fast. I’m no good at c++ but any OMG! CODER! out there can help the author. I’m sure Dmitry will appreciate it
