Emesene 1.6.1 released; still the best msn client for linux

The latest, and likely last, version of MSN messaging ‘clone’ Emesene 1.x has been released.

We’ve raved on and on and on and on about Emesene in the past and for good reason. If you’re solely an MSN kinda person it has everything you need – yes, including webcam support – all tucked up in a gorgeous interface. (Take that aMSN!)

With efforts soon to refocus on Emesene 2, which amongst other things will add more protocol support and adium theme support, this release is largely a bugfix release to tide the application over for a little while longer.

Two notable additions: -

  • MSN Roaming is fixed; avatar, nickname, status all synced with MSN proper
  • Revamped avatar chooser
