Reader Platinrabe sent over his concept for how best to use the free space on window borders that we’ve seen so much of recently: from gesture based controls and intelligent helpers to workflow-enhancing menu-thingy-majiggies)

“I thought before searching for new functions that could be added as buttons it would be more important to add existing functions of the gnome desktop that til now have only been available through the context-menu.”

It’s a refined and do-able concept that makes use of the current way in which many people use their desktops (i.e. workspaces) but whether it’s ‘innovative’ enough to come to life will remains to be seen.
