New icon wanted for Guayadeque Music Player

The developers behind lightweight music application ‘Guayadeque‘ are looking for a new icon to better represent it.

The current Guayadeque icon looks rather dated and doesn’t embody the music player in the slightest: -

Clipart called, they want their icon back

Help
We reviewed the not-so-snappily-titled music player last week and from your reactions you loved it as much as we did so we’ve every faith that someone talented somewhere will help the project out.

If you’re a dab hand with the Inkscape or GIMP or even if you just have some ideas – why not get in contact with the Guayadeque team and help give this application the image it deserves!

I don’t like this player, I think gmusicbrowser is the best choice

I like it, but it just reminds me of the iTunes logo.

Nice (as always) danrabbit! I’d vote for this.
I’m probably shallow like that, but i refuse apps with poor artwork. Just like i tend to skip buying anything from a company with a poorly designed website. LOL

Not shallow at all. If people overlook design then it shows their lack of understanding of the desktop market.

Right, and think this applies to a lot of markets. Whether you do it conciously or not, for the most part you associate good design with a superior product.

For me, Guayadeque Music Player is very slow at editing track titles.

I think they should think of a new name first rather than icon.

I think that’s already on the cards ;)

second the comment for a name change=)

LOL. I can’t pronounce the name but it does remind me of a french sounding tropical fruit.

Dang there are so many good music players for Linux…and hardly any for Windows, and music players aren’t the only category I see the same thing in others as well like micro-blogging for instance. :)

We are a bit spoilt for choice in certain areas i agree! Sadly lacking in others though..

Yeah that is true, nothing is prefect!

      • Danny

Hey man maybe a comparison of players would make a good article?

uninstalled Rhy… and Ban… and installed Gua… since previous post here on OMGU. Using Kupfer (https://launchpad.net/~kupfer-team/+archive/ppa) it really doesnt matter if i know application’s full name or if by chance it is ugly :D

All i must know is my music player’s name starts with Gu..

    but yes – maybe “Guaya”

G-Que is getting traction for the name change and I personally like DanRabbits artwork for the icon
