‘Finestly’ Lucid Theme Gets White Edition. Very White Edition.

Finestly‘ – a proposed theme for inclusion in Lucid Lynx – created a lot of reaction when we first blogged about it a few days ago. As dark themes go it certainly was on the darker end of the spectrum!

Well, fear not as the theme now comes in a ‘light’ version – albeit a very, very light version.

As such the themes have now become a “pair” named Yin and Yang respectively. For contrast here is the ‘Yin’ version of Fineslty: -

The white one is a bit glaring, though it might be more bearable if you picked a darker desktop. Otherwise, it doesn’t look half-bad! I like minimal-looking stuff.

I think “glaring” is the right word. I couldn’t use it for a prolonged period of time, it’s like someone shining a torch in my face.

Great news, at least there will be some contrast between the two. Not to sure about the completely starched white on the windows though, could maybe do with a sprinkle of gradient?

OMG it hurts my eyes. I have to turn down screen brightness to look at it.

The white is a bit bright for my taste.

I like Ying, in fact I am using it. But Yang is too bright for my tastes.(Didn’t mean to echo Mohan, noticed at last second) :P

Agreed. I really like the finesty dark edition; I’m using it right now and have been since it was posted here. Ever since I moved from windows last year I’ve found that darker themes are easier on the eyes. Before finesty I was using Lithium (which I also found here!) But the white is much to bright and glaring.

if you want to change the green to something a little more toasty, sudo sed -i -e ‘s/(human_color:).*”/1#ffd977″/g’ /usr/share/themes/Finestly-Yang/gtk-2.0/gtkrcor change #ffd977 to maybe blue or #fff (white) either text or color code works, whatever color you please. (copy paste the text in the terminal and hit enter, this assumes the theme is installed) Just image the while color as semi-transparent… the black theme as well…can’t wait till lucid+1 :p

This is better than the time before, but the yellow suck, it should be orange, other than that its good.

although it was installed correclty it does not appear in my list of themes.

Click on any theme and then the ‘customize’ button – select finestly under ‘controls’ and window border (and then choose an icon set to match etc

The whiteness is a little over the top, but like the idea. Ubuntu seems to have a plethora of dark themes.
