Enable 3-D Mode In Docky [Updated]

Whise, of screenlets fame, posted a tip for enabling 3-D mode in Docky.
You must have Docky (not Gnome-Do Docky) installed. Once set head over to the Configuration Editor.

  • ALT+F2
  • type €“ gconf-editor
  • Navigate to /apps/docky-2/Docky/Interface/DockPreferences/Dock (whichever dock you want to enabled it on)
  • Check the box next to 'ThreeDimensional'
  • Boom! 3-D Docky

BZR Users

Docky BZR users can enable 3-D from the Docky Settings menu.

  • Click on the Docky Icon on the dock
  • Tick ’3D Background’.
  • Errr. That’s it!

I’m not sure I do exactly understand what this is about.
Is it to get a dock in which icons are “laying on a surface” instead of being “glued on a wall”, like on the screenshot ?

    • Yi Sun-sin

After testing, I can answer myself : yes.

seems to only work when docky is on the bottom part of the screen
    am i doing something wrong?

This is indeed the case. 3D Dock just looks funny anywhere else so I saved myself the time and maths and just did the button dock.

Ok – that answers my question too – I thought that maybe you could only have 1 dock in 3D mode or something, but my second dock is on the side of the screen, so that’s why the option is greyed out.

        Thanks.
