Which Humanity Style Icon Would You Like Made Next?

natewiebe13 – the designer of humanity style icons for Tomboy and Banshee, would like to know which icon OMG!UBUNTU! readers most want made next!

There’s no promise it will get made, but it will certainly give him an idea of which to do next.

Shucks! The poll won’t display write-ins…

    1. Write-in: Easystroke
    2. Write-in: Deskbar-applet
    3. Write-in: Cellwriter
    4. Write-in: Liferea (it’s already black and white when there are no new feeds, but it would be nice to have a humanity liferea icon, especially when there are new feeds)

Oh i see what you mean… it’s a bit odd that it gives the option to write it in yet even i, the poll creator, can’t see what people have written,

Edit: Oh i’ve found out where i need to look. The other suggestions so far are: –

      Tracker [1 vote]
      aMSN [1 vote]
      Easystroke [2 votes]
      Liferea [2 votes]

  • Fireblend

Though choice between gwibber and Transmission, but I think that between those two the one that looks “out of place” the most would be transmission. In case the designer is reading these comments, great job so far and keep it up! Your work is very appreciated :D

Though it might not be possible since skype tray icons are hidden somewhere in its sourcecode

An icon that works with Thunderbird/Firetray. I have not managed to get this done, cause I don’t know where to find the add-on’s icon…

Gwibber, Liferea and aMSN shouldn’t actually have an icon in the system tray, as they should have their place in the indicator-applet instead! The point of it is to prevent clutter in the notification area and provide a centralised location for notifications of applications of that type.

    • http://omgubuntu.co.uk/ d0od

Some people don’t use the indicator applet. (i do, but i’m just saying)

When you say Liferea should have its icon in the indicator-applet, is this actually possible, or do you only mean this in theory? If you mean this in theory, then I completely agree. If you’re saying that it is currently possible to get Liferea to show up in the indicator-applet and not in the notification area, then I absolutely want to know how to do this.

I meant in theory. I don’t use it Liferea but I guess it’s one of those apps that would be well suited for the indicator-applet. I wrote a plugin for Emesene to support the indicator applet :D

    Empathy please.

Empathy is in the indicator-applet so it doesn’t need an icon.

A vote here for Transmission (torrent client). Would love to see that one.

Also voted for Transmission, since it’s there all the time, yet I don’t interact with it too much.

      • Raptor

        +1 transmission

    - Emesene
    - Deluge
    - Vlc
    - Skype
    (- Audacious ?)

There already appears to be a humanity icon for transmission

Alright.. Just posted my last batch for the day. They are File Operations (the panel icon when you are copying files from one location to another), Transmission, and LIferea. They are posted on gnome-look.org under my account : natewiebe13 . I have icons for VLC and Rhythmbox created, I just need to figure out the locations. Will most likely post those within the next couple of days.

  • Steven

For me Nr.1 would be VLC, other apps that I would like to see having a nice Humanity icon would be Exaile and Emesene. Please make them!

  • http://garret.isgreat.org Garret

    I would add :P
    - Amule
    - Transmission
    - Deluge
    - Stardict
    - Specto
    - Skype (but for this I don’t know if it could be possible…)

fusion-icon fusion-icon fusion-icon!! I need to get rid of that gigantor blue cube in my panel!!

How could we submit these excellent icons to the developers of these programs upstream, to be default for Lucid Lynx? Wouldn’t it be awesome if all of your tray icons were the same theme.

  • Narfss

I made the Rhythmbox, Transmission, and gdu-warning.
But the icon of Rhythmbox and Transmission are the same in the menu.

    Pd: next Skype

  • Rumpelstiltskin

Audacious please. The tray icon is horrible!

  • http://www.martinsmucker.com Michael Martin-Smucker

With Liferea and Transmission apparently finished already, that leaves only Tasque in my notification area. Oh! and Mail-Notification. I should have voted for that one. Actually, I’d rather stop using mail-notification altogether… any good options for Gmail that use indicator-applet?

  • Anonymous

How about Dropbox? Would that be possible? I have no idea if it is or where dropbox keeps its icon, but its the only one in my tray that looks out of place.

    • Anonymous

Edit: Nope, I guess its not, the icon is hidden somewhere in its source code. There is this person on Gnome-look that is looking into it however: http://bit.ly/2if4vG

  • Roger

what about gnome-mediaplayer and dropbox? that’d do for me…

  • RemiW

I would like see humanity icon style for Nicotine+ ;)
    Good work !

    A GOOD Rhythmbox icon!
(and keep the original icon in Aplication’s menu)

Ah neat, Nate Wiebe put all his icons in one place :P I hope he adds seahorse, which appears in the notification area often enough!

  • http://twitter.com/natewiebe13 Nate Wiebe

Alright.. Just thought I’d point out (just like titaniumtux mentioned) that I have put all of my icons into one package and will be updating with more icons as people request and as applications allow. Find it at : http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Humanity+Icons+Pack?content=115260 and you can post requests there.
