Vote To Change DropBox’s Tray Icons

As part of our on-going “Humanity Style Icons” series, lots of users have mentioned wanting to change their DropBox tray icons. Currently this is not possible, and affects users of all Operating Systems – not just Linux!

If you want the option to change the icons there is a vote happening on the DropBox website’s “VoteBox” section, a place where users can suggest and vote on ideas for DropBox. It’s a lot like Ubuntu Brainstorm.

If you want to vote for changing DropBox’s tray icons you can do so at the following link. Note that you will need to sign in using your DropBox account to cast a vote.

Alternatively another solution is for the option to hide the tray icon altogether. You can find that idea at the following link: -

i can’t vote i already voted for other ideas the day they opened voting :( , i will wait for a month till they give me my sound back.

BUT anyway i thought voting should be in Ubuntu Brainstorm to add Dropbox to the Humanity Style, + Dropbox comes to other OS’s it will be greedy of us to change other OS’s icons depending on us, so logically we should add Dropbox icon set in Humanity

it doesn’t affect all OS, as in OSX you can change the icon in the dropbox preferences to have it match osx leopard icons.

Sorry, but I have totally no problems with the dropbox icons – there are really more important things to work on – either on Dropbox or on Ubuntu side….

Fixing icon customizability doesn’t mean not fixing other things. This is a relatively small change–storing the icons in standard locations, instead of in the binaries. It is unlikely to detract from other development. Polish!
