Initially when it was launched it _was_ a ‘remix’, so it made sense then. More customization efforts are being put in now to select leaner software for the netbook version as opposed to the desktop version, etc.

Ubuntu Netbook Edition. Definitely. I haven’t heard that many *new Ubuntu users* calling it “UNR”, only those who have had a fair whack of Ubuntuization already. People don’t refer to a major competing product as W7S, W7HB, W7HP, W7P, W7E, W7U… people use names, and Ubuntu Netbook Edition sounds much more like exactly what it is… an edition of Ubuntu designed for Netbooks.

oh, noooo!
UNR name must stay cauze it sounds so like a music, like a band, or simply high tech….it’s a remix of the desktop so this is it! I would add some words to the next versions, like: “Extended edition” or “Ubuntu netbook Remix featuring Red Hat” and we also need some penguins rockin’ on an optical organ:p

Maybe this is just crazy, but is nice and I would enjoy it, all of ubuntu users would enjoy it and this is what matters.

Hey everybody,
I also use Ubuntu Netbook Remix (karmic koala) and I am starting to think about moving on Lucid lynx…it’s only a matter of time ’till then.
I heard good things about Lucid… maybe you can tell me your own thoughts.

I agree. Most people know remix in music terms, which immediately conjures the image of random DJs and MySpace musicians adding funky techno effects to ruin a good song. >.<

one of the things i notices on UNR that its heavy, moving between menus are slow also the general response is very slow

Netbook Edition is a better choice i think. The people who work with Ubuntu know what Netbook Remix is, but the people who don’t, think “ooh thats a “remix” i shouldnt use it cos its probly not stable”.

Well moblin remix IS actually a remix. You can’t change that…
I still think that UNR sounds way better than UNE. :D
