I’ve just posted the “details” of it, but i’d say yes it does have a value: It’ll be integrated into a native linux application, it’ll (no doubt) see canonical get a cut of tracks sold, it integrates in to UbuntuOne… and finally it allows people who miss itunes to get some of that back.

Haha. iTunes does work though Wine, but sadly i don’t use it that way as there are far better alternatives for Linux (Banshee).I do use Windows – not often, but i do. And when i’m on it i use iTunes. Habit perhaps as i used to be a Mac user.

(Why do i keep Windows? Because i need something to compare Ubuntu against for starters, but i also have to use After Effects and Premier Pro when i get freelance work.

Windows stays on overnight and i probably use it for about 15mins a day. Ubuntu doesn’t suspend or hibernate on my hardware but Windows does.)

Oooh i didn’t know that. Both stores are amongst the first thing i disable in Rhythmbox (as i disable iTunes Store in iTunes).

Magnatune’s store stopped actually working in Rhythmbox due to API changes (where the external app can’t handle credit cards), which sucks because I love Magnatune. Jamendo still works.

Work on cracking the iTunes store, I say.

I like that idea, I already use Amazon MP3 store, and if that is tightly integrated into Ubuntu…oh man that is just freaking awesome!
