Gorgeous Humanity Style Icons For Pidgin

Continuing our series on humanity style icons for popular applications we turn out attention to the most popular Instant Messenger since the dawn of, er… sometime – Pidgin!

Not-Empathy Clones
There have been some great ‘humanity style’ icons for Pidgin made recently, but I’ve held off on posting them because they either used Empathy icons or were a bit too ‘Empathy’ like. I wanted to share something different.

Download
Grab the icons at Gnome-look.org: http://www.gnome-look.org/Human+Gray+pidgin+icons

Install
Extract the icons to your /usr/share/pixmaps/pidgin/

  1. Hit Alt-F2
  2. type: gksu nautilus /usr/share/pixmaps/pidgin/
  3. Move the folders you download into ‘tray’ folder of the newly spawned window
  4. Restart Pidgin
  5. Enjoy!

    Very nice!

Although since Pidgin is integrated with the indicator-applet, I personally don’t never see the icons to begin with.

I agree with @homeofpoe below – I never see this particular icon. Great series though – think you could take it to looking at gnome-do – that’s the only out of place icon left in my tray (except when spotify is open, but I guess that’s not gnome/ubuntu’s fault!)

Hate to be a pain requesting all these icons, but could you do some for wicd network manager? The default ones for wicd look terrible!!

Or even instructions on how to replace the wicd icons with the ones from network-manager. I tried to locate wicd’s icon directory but couldn’t find it.

What’s the best way to make icons? I might have a crack at making some of my own.

    Thanks!

I will see those icons, since skype tray icon is always shown…
If I have to see 2 icons (skype and indicator applet), than I’d prefer see skype and pidgin.

    One request:
Now pidgin supports themes for tray icons.
Your instructions will replace icons that are doomed to be replaced again, if ubuntu pushes out an update.
Would be great if those icons could be provided as pidgin theme in the user folder, and installed that way (whatever it is…) so to not be replaced when a new pidgin comes out and updated.
