I like this a bit more than the standard interface, which always looked a bit cluttered to me. My only pet peeve – no way to drag and drop within the play queue. Anyone know of a workaround, short of strategic deletions and readds?

It gets really slow. I’ve got 80GB, and before I upgraded to a quad-core system, it was almost unusable. I dunno if that’s the fault of Mono, the database that it uses or the way it renders list items that makes it slow, but it is one of the slowest clients I’ve ever used. However, the simple interface yet nice control over my music means it’s still my number one choice.

I wish the devs would concentrate on the core aims of banshee, rather than making it a little bit of a video manager, internet archive manager, and now even some kind of picture manager!

This is nice! I probably won’t use it but It’s good to see different interfaces interacting with Banshee! I wish they’d keep the community more up to date as to what they’re doing, it felt like almost 6 months when they didn’t appear to be doing anything!

Aaron’s github page[1] includes a git branch of clutter-sharp. I have a feeling that Cubano somehow depends on this special build of clutter-sharp, but since it hasn’t been updated since May, I’m a little hesitant to try it out.

Since Cubano is one of Aaron Bockover’s projects and Banshee is also sort of his project, I can hardly imagine that Cubano will just fade into oblivion. I don’t follow Novell too much, but I think they’re planning on releasing their own take on Moblin sometime, and I’d be surprised if Banshee + Cubano wasn’t somehow a part of that.

I have a half-written post on Cubano, but i have never been able to get it to build. Funnily enough it was Clutter issues for myself, despite building Clutter from GIT as well.

I’ll poke the dev actually and find out what’s going on with it.

I’ve tried building Cubano from git but i get failure after failure. It’s not been updated since June and what with Banshee’s “trying-to-be-everything” approach recently, i’m not sure it’ll ever see the light of day.

No joke! It would be awesome to get a tutorial on setting up Cubano on Ubuntu. I tried once, but ran into clutter issues (does Cubano use its own version of clutter-sharp?) and never even got it to compile. @d0od, you should totally figure out how to get this working and write a fancy tutorial.

The “old” way just involved downloading a script and double clicking on it. The script, it seems, has since been integrated into Banshee so it doesn’t need to be separate.

If you’re using a recent version of Banshee (I think 1.5.1 is recent enough – I don’t remember), you don’t need any special scripts to get Muinshee running. You can run muinshee by opening alt Alt-F2 and typing muinshee. This means that you can create a launcher for it just like you would any other app – just use muinshee as the command. Muinshee is indeed pretty sweet.
