It requires a serious amount of hacking, but you can get "aero style" windows in GNOME using this. (I'm not talking Aero style window borders, but the entire application.

I'll be writing a tutorial on this once i've managed to get it working, but in the mean time you'll find a slightly dense yet complete tutorial via the download on deviant-art.
