I personally find that more practical than having the toolbar area transparent, though having both would be good too. Considering Nautilus already supports custom backgrounds it seems like it would be easier to implement this hack right here.

Has anyone worked out a hack that makes the Nautilus background transparent? Anyone without programming experience would probably overlook it entirely. It did seem to me that most apps wouldn't work well with it. I think he chose the apps in that screenshot very carefully. It'd be great to see more apps use this. It'd also be good to not have the opacity settings hard-coded. I shudder to think how long he spent getting those values just right...

Yeah. Not being overly bright it took me a good twenty minutes to figure out what it was trying to say! lolI didn't get beyond that so used an older method which, whilst not using the "better" transparency values this one does, was okay. I soon got bored of it tho - a lot of apps hate it.

I noted the decimal error. I'm trying it now.Unfortunately, it looks like including the Gloobus patch for Nautilus will not be a straight-forward procedure. One error thus far: in the constant definitions he provided for Murrine, WINDOW_OPACITY is 0788, not 0.788. Compiler interprets this as an octal value, and complains about the presence of an 8.Installation of the patched Nautilus just failed. Trying to overwrite /usr/share/pixmaps/nautilus/knob.png, which is also in nautilus-data.Eh, I'll try it again later. Things to see, people to do.

This looks cool.
