Elementary Theme XSplash

For fans of the ‘Elementary project‘ and their associated artwork you’ll be pleased to hear that the simplistic and minimal tones of Elementary have finally touched XSplash.

Created by design supremo Dan Rabbit (like the Karmic Humanity icon set? Send your thanks his way!) the XSplash has to be seen in action to be properly admired. ‘The ‘E’ is the loading throbber and gradually fades in to fullness from nothing and the result is a super-slick one.

This is a great xsplash, but mr doob’s xsplashes look better, imo.

Btw, i have a very small issue with xsplash. Actually, just an annoyance. When it finishes loading, when it’s supposed to fade out smoothly to show the desktop, it doesn’t happen for me. Xsplash does its animation, then freezes, then my desktop suddenly appears with no smooth fade in.

Is it just me or is that common issue? i have an nvidia 8500gt card and a core 2 duo processor.

I have the same card and i don’t get the “fade in” either. AFAIK there is an option somewhere that needs to be enabled for nvidia cards… i’ll try and track it down.

Edit: actually, i have had the fade a few times but it was after changing some random settings on something but it soon reverted to FREEZE… BAM! DEsktop!

Its ironic but i just installed ubuntu 9.10 on my sister’s pc, with no via integrated graphics (compiz doesnt even work there) and altough a bit laggy, xsplash fades almost smoothly.
