Disable it and see. If it is the script being unresponsive you can just run it manually whenever you want to change your wallpaper/xsplash combo.

To run manually just cd to the folder where you keep it and run ./wallpaper_daemon.py

I really like this tweak. However, it goes unresponsive every time I shut down. Ubuntu asks whether it should kill an “unknown process” that I’m almost sure is the wallpaper_daemon.py

After installing this on my laptop (running karmic, netbook remix), the netbook-launcher interface keeps segfaulting. Now I can’t get the netbook remix interface back. I’ll post a fix if I find one.

The easiest way, imo, is just to re-install the xsplash files via synaptic or download them and install them again from the karmic repos @ http://packages.ubuntu.com/karmic/ubuntu-xsplash-artwork

sudo nautilus

Just go to /usr/share/images/xsplash then extract backup archive (.tar maybe) replace all file in that directory.

nice script specially when used with “Human Swarm” but the problem is the black screen after xsplash, its so annoying.
anyway lets hope the Canonical is working on this problem.

Is there any way to get this on Kubuntu 9.10? Or to get Xsplash at all? Without Xsplash, without the software Center, without a KDE frontend for Ubuntu one, I feel like there was no change in Kubuntu 9.10.
