Below are three very awesome Xsplash themes based on some of the original proposals for Karmic's XSplash. They all come with handy .deb installers, too!

Installation & Removal
Simply download the .deb installer and double-click to install.
To re-install the default use 'sudo apt-get install --reinstall ubuntu-xsplash-artwork' in a terminal.
