Banshee 1.5.1 Released

The Banshee team announced the release of version 1.5.1 of the popular music player/manager yesterday morning and this 'point' release sees lots of improvements and a few new features, too. header-logo

The main noted features are a new shuffle feature that lets you shuffle by artist, album, rating, score etc and a new 'Auto DJ' that keeps your play queue topped up with music. This mode also utilises the new shuffle feature and allows you to add queue items by artists, album, score, etc.

Support for syncing with more devices is added €“ including those running webOS (Palm Pre) and Android (G1, Galaxy, etc)

There were over 130 bugs fixed and 20 other enhancements added since 1.5.0.

~ Banshee developer Gabriel Burt

Other than that it's the same old banshee with some bug fixes! (I.e. still not quite there, but incredible nonetheless!)

Gotta love how their site states that 1.5.1 is available for Ubuntu, and yet points to the ppa which doesn’t have it yet.

And it still won’t play last.fm radio…the one thing keeping me from moving over 100% from Rhythmbox.

@motang: It does plays last.fm stations, since version 1.2 or before. Just have to enable the last.fm plugin.

Do you guys know if it will allow syncing with 5th gen iPod, I am maily looking for something that brings over album art from the ID3 tag; similar to Media Monkey, but there is nothing in Ubuntu that even comes close.

    any help?

Shuffle mod is BS anyway. Any option works as normal shuffle. Even no random works as random sometimes. It’s clunky too. Pity, interface looks great.
