For anyone wondering why I’m posting a screeenshot of my Ubuntu desktop, i do it every so often for my own purposes. I like to be able to look back and see how Ubuntu has changed €“ and the way in which i use it!

Uh.. I’d like very much to get my hands on that theme and wallpaper you got. I assume that the thing in the lower left corner is what you’ve written about some time ago on the blog.

Does gnome-do docky replace your taskbar ? Have you removed the desktop switcher ?

You have to manually remove you taskbar, but docky replaces all the same functions (minimising windows to it, sorting through open apps, etc) and it also has a “desktop switcher” docklet which sits on it allowing you to switch between desktops with a click. (though i use my mouse scroll button to do this, hence i don’t have it enabled.)

Ok i’ve tried using gnome-do as a dock, but some things are weird:

      1. The dock doesn’t differentiate between a shortcut and the application itself when launched. What if I want to launch more than one time that app ? (ie. the console).

      2. The dock shows all apps launched, not just the apps launched on that particular desktop.

for the first issue you simply right click on the dock icon and select “run”.

As for number 2, i like it that way however you can change it in the preferences menu… but i’m not at home on linux atm so i can’t check!
