Karmic’s New Default Wallpaper

It landed with the rest of the photo wallpapers in todays updates and replaces the Jaunty default wallpaper that the Alpha’s have been using up until now.

Will it remain the default wallpaper past the beta or RC? That we’ll have to wait and see… but for now – say hello to Karmic’s Default Wallpaper!

    I don’t think so. The color is just not right, moreover it looks like being a photo of something…

    Unlikely, you yourself even stated that they rushed the art to get in Alpha 6. I’m sure this is the same case. Typically speaking, the wallpaper is usually on introduced in the beta (next week).

      I agree – though i think this will remain default up until the RC.

      most of the previous wallpapers have been simplistic. (Well except the Heron.)

      This has such a wonderful texture to it close up… i’m torn between whether it’s a photo or a graphic!

    While I do think this looks better than the Jaunty wallpaper, which in turn didn’t look so bad. It would have made more sense to use a photographic wallpaper in my opinion.

      No way! That’d be far too modern looking! :P

      I can’t tell whether this is a photo or not.. it arrived with 19 other photos…

    Windows XP wallpaper = success
    Mac OS X wallpaper = success
    Ubuntu Linux wallpaper = always phail

      From the dev’s mouths: -

      The wallpaper is named warty-final-ubuntu because we realized we can’t change the users gconf keys so we can’t update their wallpaper unless we keep the same name.

    Another fugly choice, who makes these decisions and are they willing to put their name behind them.

    The first thing I do on any distro is get rid of default settings stuff like themese and wallpapers.

    This will be another to skip.

    Many sites have lots of user made wallpapers that Ive saved which are superior to the official stuff and most importantly, they are WHAT I LIKE, not what someone else thinks I would.
    On top of that you can click the Get Wallpaper option and add more.

    Kubuntu has a great option where you can have your wallpaper change every X minutes.

    The default wallpaper? Why?

    One wallpaper? Why?

    make your computer look like YOU want and make it do what YOU want.

    Well, not great, but OK. Would change whatever it might be to my NASA Wallpaper anyway ;-)
    I have to agree, though – some of the previous wallpapers were a lot more exciting.

    One of the worst wallpapers ever! It’s too bright it destroys the dark mood the Xsplash screen and GDM create.

    I hope they change this to something that makes sense.
