Dust Themes Megapost – Themes For Empathy, Gwibber, Firefox, aMSN, AWN, Lock-Dialog & tons more

Dust is one of the most popular Ubuntu themes. So much so that is even now included in Ubuntu by default.

Applications

Whilst all GTK applications can adapt to Dust fine, those not written in GTK or that come with custom themes can look out of place.

Thankfully there are plenty of €œDust€ skins around for many of these applications.

Firefox Dust Theme

Firefox has it's own Official 'Dust' theme which you can install by clicking the link below: -

http://launchpad.net/dusttheme-firefox/0.2/0.2.1/+download/dustfox-0.2.1.xpi

To complete the look you can also install a userscript to round the tab bars.

Gwibber Dust

If you're using the stable version of Gwibber, you can install a 'Dust' theme for it to better help it blend with your desktop.

Installation:

You'll need to download it from bzr with:~

bzr branch lp:~l3on/gwibber/dust-theme

To install it, put it into the following folder:

~/.local/share/gwibber/ui/themes/

now just open Gwibber and select the new theme from the preferences dialog.

aMSN

Although i don't aMSN myself, i have often come across people asking for a Dust aMSN theme. If you are too, then head on over to this thread on the aMSN forums where you can find a specially made Dust theme! Alternatively download from the link below.

Opera 10

Although Web Browser Opera is written in QT, it can still perfectly mimic your GTK theme.

To enable this, first make sure you're using the QT4 version of Opera 10 AND you have QT4 installed!

Then follow my swift tutorial over @ http://d0od.blogspot.com/2009/07/opera-gtk-theme.html

How can I install a theme for Empathy?

      • http://omgubuntu.co.uk/ d0od

        Extract the tarball to ~/.local/share/adium/message-styles/*.AdiumMessageStyle

        • Kestal

Though, I know.. its fun picking at every program and figuring out how it works… I really hope that there is an easy way to import an adium theme from within the program (like Adium does). If not for adium themes, for Empathy’s own set of things. Especially now as Empathy is being the default IM solution for Ubuntu 9.10 and is trying to attract a more general user audience.

Yup. You just need to put Ravenant_Dust.AdiumMessageStyle and/or Ravenant_Dust_Groupchats.AdiumMessageStyle to ~/.local/share/adium/message-styles/

how do you go about installing the gdm greeter?

    • http://omgubuntu.co.uk/ d0od

Open up System > Admin > Login Window and install the theme from there.Ensure that you select the theme when installed and set it to only use the one theme – it defaults to using a selection of those checked resulting in a different login screen each time! eek!
