Add A Trash Can To The Ubuntu Desktop

Users coming from Windows may be used to a “recycle can” on their desktop. Ubuntu doesn’t have one by default, but you can easily add one.

Add a trash can to your desktop in 3 steps

1. Press ‘alt+f2 then type gconf-editor and hit enter.
2. In gconf-editor, navigate to apps > nautilus > desktop
3. On the right side look for the entry called: trash_icon_visible
4. Check the box and that’s it!
